Kindergarten Basketball

The kindergarten basketball program will again be conducted by David Adelman of Play Hard Hoops and will be an instructional league focusing on skill development. This program has limited capacity, only 30 players are allowed. Registration will be on a first come/first serve basis. Additional players will be put on a waitlist.

The program will consist of six weeks of clinics/games for one hour on Saturdays on the following dates:  January 18, 25; February 1, 8, 15, and 22.  They will be held at Half Day School at 3:00 on those dates.

Although we are conducting registration in September and October, you will likely not receive any communication or further details on this program until mid-January.   Any teams will be formed at the first session.  You will also receive jerseys on that date.

Players will spend a large portion of the hour program in a group setting engaging in drills designed to teach basic basketball skills.  At the end of the hour, players will play short games.

Players will receive LSA basketball jerseys and a season ending trophy.  Players do not need to bring basketballs, but can if they would like.  Games will be “refereed” by parent coaches.

Registration will occur at the same time as registration for grades 1-8.  This is so we can order all equipment and jerseys at one time.  The program will not begin until late January, even though the rest of the divisions will begin practices in December.

In order for this program to work, we must have parent volunteers.  Each team will need at least one coach.  We will also need one parent to be a “commissioner” who is responsible for helping to coordinate the program and divide up the teams.  It would be helpful for this person to be present at all sessions to assist with the clinics and games.
